So many of us during lockdown 2020/21 experienced new restrictions in our lives. Our normal routines were disrupted and we were facing the unknown. Many people spent time at home that was unexpected, for some this was a welcome change to the busy hustle bustle of life and for some it brought great hardship and loneliness.

Typically a Sunday for my family would involve singing in our church choir but sadly we were unable to continue during lockdown. Adapting to circumstances, the church was soon able to stream services, reaching many of the housebound parishioners but we had no music. At a time where the church had less money for running costs, purchasing licences to be able to stream was an extra expense, so we started to try and write our own music. We recorded hymns each week on to a CD under the name Simplechurchsongs and that is how it all started.
